The promise of high-speed 600mm/s printing combined with multi-material capability via the Creality Filament System (CFS) seemed like an absolute game-changer. For the first couple of weeks, it lived up to the hype, churning out breathtaking multicolor prints with crisp lines and incredible velocity. Unfortunately, that honeymoon phase didn't last. What started as an exciting engineering marvel has turned into a massive, expensive paperweight sitting dead on my workbench—and dealing with Creality to fix it has been an absolute nightmare.The Good: Flawless Early Performance If the machine could actually maintain its out-of-the-box performance, it would easily be a 5-star printer:Blazing Speeds: Pushing the printer toward its 600mm/s threshold is spectacular to watch. Thanks to the rigid frame and motion system, it handles high acceleration smoothly without immediately turning prints into ghosting-ridden messes. Seamless Multicolor Layouts: The CFS module initially handled multi-filament prints beautifully. The automatic reloading, retraction, and color-swapping routines ran cleanly without requiring constant user intervention. Stunning Print Quality: When the extrusion, bed leveling, and cooling assemblies are synchronized, the layer consistency and finish on complex models are truly top-tier.The Bad: Sudden Mechanical Failure & Broken Promises The real issue with the K2 Combo is its long-term reliability. After a short period of flawless execution, the machine threw critical errors during a routine color swap and ground to a sudden halt. The system suffered a cascading failure involving internal electronic communication and toolhead faults. It didn't just experience a simple nozzle clog; it experienced a fundamental system breakdown that completely locked up the printer's core functionality.The Ugly: Incompetent Support and a Refusal to Exchange While a hardware defect can happen to any brand, Creality’s handling of the situation has been completely unacceptable:Months of Failed Troubleshooting: My printer has been completely down for months. I have spent countless hours opening support tickets, sending log files, and following repetitive, canned troubleshooting procedures provided by their technical support staff.Useless Back-and-Forth: Every response from their team takes days and reads like an automated script. They have had me disassemble components, check wiring, and flash firmware over and over again, yet they clearly have no actual understanding of how to resolve the deeper issue. Absolute Refusal to Exchange: Because it is entirely evident that I received a defective machine that cannot be repaired through basic consumer troubleshooting, I formally requested a product exchange. Creality has flat-out refused. Despite the printer sitting uselessly under warranty, they prefer to leave their customers stranded in a permanent loop of unhelpful emails rather than standing behind their flagship hardware.Final Verdict:The Creality K2 Combo has all the mechanical potential to be an industry leader, but it is crippled by terrible quality control and the worst customer service ecosystem in 3D printing. If your unit works forever, you'll love it. But if you are unlucky enough to experience a hardware failure, expect your expensive machine to collect dust on a shelf while tech support ignores you. I’ll preface this review by saying that this is my first resin printer—and my first 3D printer at all—so I was filled with excitement to dive into the world of 3D printing. Unfortunately, that excitement has turned into deep disappointment.The initial setup was straightforward, and I was thrilled when my calibration test prints came out perfectly. The level of detail on the miniatures was truly incredible, and I was impressed with what this machine seemed capable of. However, the success stopped there.When I attempted a second print, everything went downhill. The resin simply wouldn’t solidify or adhere to the plate. I’ve re-leveled the bed countless times, thoroughly cleaned the build plate, tried cloud prints, and sliced my own STL files—nothing worked. I’ve scoured YouTube tutorials and online forums, only to discover that many others face the same issue, and there doesn’t seem to be a definitive solution.I can confidently say my bed is level, my plate is clean, and my apartment is within the recommended temperature range. Yet, no matter what I try, I can’t achieve a successful print beyond the initial test run. The lack of clarity around troubleshooting this issue is incredibly frustrating.Adding to the disappointment is the sheer inconvenience of returning the Halot Mage Pro 8K. It’s heavy, bulky, and transporting it back to the store feels like an ordeal in itself.While the print quality during that brief moment of success was stunning, the persistent failure and lack of reliable support have left me regretting this purchase. For a first-time user, this experience has been nothing short of discouraging. I've been printing on FDM Printers for a while but have avoided SLA printers due to the issues dealing with resin. My daughter continually asks me to create miniatures for her so I decided to give it a shot for the higher quality available.I was choosing between this printer and the Voxelab Proxima 6. I was close to pulling the trigger on the Voxelab (I already have a Voxelab Aquila FDM printer and love it) but decided against it for the following issues: they are no longer using Chitu boards, I see few if any firmware updates, no wifi or app. This unit had all of these features.So now onto the Halot One:Everything was well packaged and the unit appears to be well manufactured. Setup was fairly easy, but recommend following youtube videos rather than following the written instructions.Pros:- Vivid and responsive large touchscreen- Wifi and App control/monitoring through Creality Cloud app- Ability to update firmware straight from printer and recent firmware updates- Free stl files available through Creality Cloud- Halot Box software is actually pretty good, also compatible with Lychee Slicer and Chitubox (kind of)- prints well first time with default settings- when you print it allows you use the printer settings or file settings. These can be very convenient as you would not need to reslice based on using different resins.Cons:- Build plate is a little awkward to manage. you have to unscrew the large screw and then pull out the build plate. I would have preferred being able to use the screw to hold the build plate itself- The cover has to be aligned perfectly in order to set properly and even so, resin odors still escape while printing. Would like there to be a stronger seal and a more easy way to align positioning so I don't risk bumping into the hardware on the way down- carbon air filter does not appear to do very much.- using chitubox requires you to convert the file using an extra tool called uvtools.- installed fep sheet had a small dimple in it. Not sure yet if it will affect printing.- included test print files were a bit limitedNote: Some users reported receiving a plastic scraper and extra FEP sheets and resin strainers.
