I’m not normally one to play games on a portable system, I have owned some in the past such as a psp and switch, but they were never my main choice in gaming. I got this backbone pro due to its versatility and cross compatibility with streaming and game services. I mainly play ps5 and steam via my pc so being able to use ps remote play or steam while traveling or in bed when I want to lay down has been a game changer. It works great with apple arcade mobile games and the ability to play classic roms with a backbone subscription is pretty cool. The ui of the backbone app is easy to use and simple to navigate. The build quality of this unit is great and the grips are really comfortable. I haven’t had a chance to compare this with the regular backbone one in terms of ergonomics but I mainly got the pro for the Bluetooth functionality as I also use it as a gaming controller at my pc. The price point for this model is a bit on the high side if purchased at full retail, but I purchased it during a sale and feel the price was fair at the sale price I got it at. I'm very happy with it. It works great for numerous games. The ergonomics are great, though I do wish that there was a tiny bit more handle specifically at the bottom for those of us with slightly larger hands. And the plastic, I wish were of a slightly higher grade. I'm not saying that it's bad plastic, but for the price of it, and the fact that it IS an accessory for a phone, I did kind of expect it to be made from some slightly better plastics. Using with iPhone 17 Pro Max - does not fit phone when using a slim case. Product feels like it is quality, and I even actually enjoyed using their free software that organizes your downloaded games, but when using a slim case on an iPhone 17 Pro Max (Apple’s case) it will not fit and you will be required to remove the case prior to use. This fits my Galaxy Z Fold 7 and iPhone 14 Pro Max (using a lighting to USB C adapter I bought separately). The set up is easy, just got to figure out the buttons and configurations at first. It’s great for COD Mobile, Metalstorm and FPS games. It’s very comfortable and life, feels like a PS4 controller in my opinion. It charges very fast via USB C and you can still charger your phone and the remote while in use. It’s a great controller all around. Only complaint I have is that sometimes it disconnects on me mid play , not sure if it’s just me or if I tap or the buttons that causes that.
